Choosing a split method when adding an expense in EconoGlance

EconoGlance supports five ways to split any expense. Pick the tab that fits, and we pre-fill sensible values you can adjust.

Equal

Splits evenly across everyone you include. Tap a member to include or exclude them. Rounding remainders go to the payer so totals always match. Best for most everyday expenses.

Exact

Enter the exact amount each person owes. A live hint shows how much is left or over — it must add up to the total.

Percentage (%)

Enter each person's percentage. The hint shows whether you've allocated 100%.

Shares

Give each person a number of shares (e.g. 2 for a couple, 1 for a single). The cost is divided in proportion. Best for households of different sizes.

Items

Break the bill into line items and tap who shared each one. Leftovers (tax, tip) split equally. Add items manually or scan a receipt to auto-itemize. Best for restaurant bills.

Tips

  • Switching methods re-fills even values; your manual edits are kept once you start typing.

  • The green hint under Split tells you if the split is valid before you can save.
